We read in the Book of the Prophet Isaiah “On that day, a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom. The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord, and his delight shall be the fear of the Lord.” That shoot that has sprouted from the stump of Jesse if of course our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In this way God our Father has fulfilled His promise to David that someone from his line will always rule. His Kingdom will not come to an end. Jesus is the eternal King. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord.
Leemos en el libro del profeta Isaías: «En aquel día, un retoño brotará del tronco de Jesé, y de sus raíces florecerá un retoño. El Espíritu del Señor reposará sobre él: espíritu de sabiduría y de entendimiento, espíritu de consejo y de fortaleza, espíritu de conocimiento y de temor del Señor, y su deleite será el temor del Señor». Ese retoño que brotó del tronco de Jesé es, por supuesto, nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. De esta manera, Dios nuestro Padre cumplió su promesa a David de que alguien de su linaje siempre gobernaría. Su Reino no tendrá fin. Jesús es el Rey eterno. Él es el Rey de reyes y el Señor de señores.
